Hello, my name is Robert Peters. I am a Nigerian filmmaker whose passion has led me to wear many hats in the industry, working as a director, cinematographer, film producer, actor, and even an occasional voice-over artist. You may have heard of the 2014 Nollywood hit 30 Days in Atlanta, which I directed. My new ORIGINal Film for Netflix titled "HIJACK 93" Was released in 25th October 2024
- Can you tell us about the film Mending you recently worked on?
In the emotional drama Mending, we follow the tumultuous journey of Sumi, a young woman grappling with profound separation anxiety stemming from her father's abrupt departure and her mother's tragic passing. Haunted by her past, Sumi once made a dreadful mistake. Years later, now married to the loving and supportive Dami, Sumi has found solace in a new life filled with joy as they raise their beautiful daughter. However, the past comes crashing back when Fela resurfaces, seeking vengeance for the wrongs he believes Sumi has inflicted upon him. As tensions rise, Sumi must confront her buried demons while navigating the complexities of love, mental health struggles, and the feeling of betrayal from her bestfriend, Funbi, who tries desperately to help her reclaim her life. In this gripping tale of redemption and resilience, Sumi embarks on a journey to mend not only her broken relationships but also the fractured pieces of her own spirit.
- As the director of the film, how did you decide on the visual style of the film? Was there a particular influence or inspiration?
Saw the movie Leave The World Behind- Directed By Sam Esmail - Love the look and the character of the image, Since I could not afford the Cooke Anamorphic and Arri Anamorphic lens. I started looking for a Cheaper option that will give me what I could get from Cooke and Arri, After watching Tonnes of video and Review I found the Pavo Anamorphic and Loving it so far, Just need to work around the Chromatic Aberration issue when you shoot against Bright light, I love the Looks and xter of the lens
- Through the trailer of Mending, we can see that the shooting scenes are quite rich. How long did the shooting of Mending take? Are there any interestingstories during the shooting that could be shared?
Mending was shot in lagos Nigeria with my friend and DP Samuel Jonathan, The Lenses are beautiful and smooth, and they really made my filming experience good and easy, my AC loved them and a friend Ajayi Oloruhuntimilehin of Nexthought Production a nigerian film rental house order a set after watching the picture resolution on my Monitor on Set. The Lenses and a beauty, They resolve so well, manage the thin line between the Classic anamorphic character and Clean skin tone and image generally.
- Mending is shot on Arri Alexa 35 and DZOFILM Pavo anamorphic lenses. Could you please share your reasons for choosing the Pavo lenses? How doyou feel about Pavo lenses after using, especially with the Arri Alexa 35 camera?
Yes, Mending was shot on Alexa 35 and they pair up so well. Mending was shot in lagos Nigeria with my friend and DP Samuel Jonathan, The Lenses are beautiful and smooth, and they really made my filming experience good and easy, my AC loved them. The Lenses and a beauty, They resolve so well, manage the thin line between the Classic anamorphic character and Clean skin tone and image generally.
- Mending will be officially released in July 2025. On what screen would you like to see this film?
Mending will be officially released on 20th June 2025 Cinemas across West Africa, We will also have some Special Screenings in Atlanta (where I live), Nebraska, Houston and London, UK In July.
- Based on your on-set experience, what innovative features would you like to see in DZOFILM's future products? Or do you have any suggestions for us toimprove the Pavo series?
Make it a full frame and try to work on the reducing the Chromatic aberration issues.
